A Lifetime Thinking About Achievement

November 4, 2014 | By

After many years of studying the development of the mind and achievement, I have decided that success is in the eyes of the beholder. Mind development is not a science as much as it is an art. After raising my kids I saw first hand that everyone is different and develops with different desires, drives and talents, beyond my control as a parent.

What I always thought would be good for one was not good for all. Achievement and accomplishment are not something that are innate. They are skills that must be learned, and the truth is they are skills that are difficult to learn. Even as easy as I would like for it to be for my children and for myself, learning how to think takes work. As my father used to tell me, “If it were easy then everyone would be doing it.” Unfortunately, very few people ever train themselves how to think. The older I get, the more I see the wisdom and truth in that advice.

The time invested in developing the mind is time well spent. It is an inescapable fact that everyone should learn.
